In education, it is always a central focus to develop the cognitive and the affective domains of learning of a person. That is why it is important that the human mind is given concepts and at the same time character education is taught extensively.

However, there is one area that should never be forgotten and that is skills development. Why? Simply, survival is based on how an individual would use his or her talent to earn a living or simply be fulfilled in life.

Basically, Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) is simply synonymous to career training. A student must have a general idea of a career path. For example, the student wanted to cook or bake. Thus, the interest is all about culinary or baking where the student will learn to prepare meal and desserts. In the future, the student may pursue a course that will end him or her as chef. Hence, when the child would enrol in HRM in college, the career path alignment is proper which means that the interests are honed and directed.

There are four major tracks in TLE namely, industrial arts, information communication technology, agri-fishery, and home economics but there are many sub strands which are very practical indeed for students to explore in Grades 7 and 8 and then specialize in Grades 9 and 10 until the students finally select the right track in TVL if they want it once they enter Grades 11 and 12 in senior high school.

For example, in beautycare, hairdressing, and wellness massage, the students who acquired the skills could immediately start his or her own business. First, they can do manicure and pedicure, haircutting, hair perming, hair coloring, hair treatment, and many others. Once the students have the National Certification, the more it is advantageous on their part.

Thus, high school students should love TLE as it will help them develop a career in the future.
